THORACIC DRAINAGE CATHETER | GSTC

A thoracic drainage catheter, also known as a chest tube, is a flexible plastic tube that is inserted into the pleural space (the space between the lung and the chest wall) to remove air, fluid, or blood and allow the lung to fully expand. It's a common medical intervention used in conditions where there's abnormal accumulation of air (pneumothorax), fluid (pleural effusion), or blood (hemothorax) in the chest cavity.
