We know that Heat is just a form of energy. A system can be given energy either by supplying heat to it or by doing mechanical work on it. Let us study First law of thermodynamics in this page which gives the relation between the Heat supplied and work done in the closed system. The Closed system is the system where the heat can be exchanged between system and its surroundings but not matter.
